The battle of fort Sumter
The battle of Fort Sumter was the first battle fought in the civil war. There was a dispute over who really owned the fort. The fort was running out of supplies but Lincoln didn't want to attack because it would be seen as northern aggression. Lincoln sent in a ship with supplies to restock necessities for the troops. They fired on the ship and both north and south engaged in warfare. Even though there were many shots fired, the only casualties were when a canon malfunctioned in a ceremonial series of cannon fire and it killed one soldier, mortally wounded another, and slightly wounded two other Union soldiers.
- The North was defending themselves and the South was attacking
- The North was closed in and they couldn't get anything through the teeth of the enemy
- The South wasn't going to let the fort get restocked but nobody wanted to make the first move but eventually, the south did...
